Comment
Ma Ying-jeou has been impetuous in cross-strait engagement.  He concluded up to 18 agreements with Beijing in just a few years, expecting to meet with Hu Jin-tau and then Xi Jin-ping with a final peace accord with Beijing.  Ma’s above rash moves serve one purpose: seeking his personal historical reputation, which is the Laurel of Noble Peace Prize.  Quite a few reports have mentioned this private ambition of Ma.

Much news has reported mentioned Ma’s private ambition for times.
It is not uncommon for the Presidents to seek historical reputation, especially in their second term.  Lee Teng-hui and Chen Sui-bian once had the dream, too.  Hwoever, they did not choose to revise the world to fit their personal ambition.
Chou Mei-Qing, the first lady, once commented in public that her husband Ma does not put others’ needs before his own interests.
If she was telling the truth, it looks probable that MYJ might get wildly insane following the schedule of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates.  The last date for Ma to submit nomination documents to the Prize before he leaves the office is February 1st, 2015.  Ma will get anxious from September 2014.  The more eagerly Ma seeks the Laureates, the more likely he will make idiotic decisions to achieve the dream at all cost
Observers have produced a few scenarios of Ma’s leaving the office, including being put into jail for bribery, wire-tapping the Parliament members, among others.

With eight more years for his term, Xi might be pondering on the cost of playing a hasty game with a bumbler.    Revised at 1630

February Deadline for submission.  The Committee bases its assessment on nominations that must be postmarked no later than 1 February each year.  Nominations postmarked and received after this date are included in the following year's discussions.  In recent years, the Committee has received close to 200 different nominations for different nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize.  The number of nominating letters is much higher, as many are for the same candidates.
