ADIZ:白宮開始搖擺

Comment
It is weird that on November 29 the Department of State quoted and posted Chinese ADIZ-related question and replies of its November 27 press briefing, with the thanksgiving holiday in between.  Did the move suggest that the US takes it seriously?

The spokesperson of DoS used such ambiguous words as “generally expects” and “expectation” while the journalist asked what the “specific guidance” was.  He added that the government does not recognize Chinese new ADIZ.
It could be understood as creating a “friendly atmosphere” before Joe Biden’s long-planned visit to China by the US.  However, China’s unilateral creation of ADIZ, which she has no right to do, has been de facto recognized by the US, whose response could relieve certain obligations that are supposed to be granted to China side in Biden’s trip.

It looks to me that Beijing has won this round, again, because of the orientation-less leadership of the US.    Revised on 20131202

China's Declared ADIZ - Guidance for U.S. Air CarriersDoS(2013.11.27)
Taken Question
Office of the Spokesperson
November 29, 2013

Question: Is there any specific guidance or information we are giving to U.S. carriers operating in China's recently declared Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ)?
Answer: Freedom of overflight and other internationally lawful uses of sea and airspace are essential to prosperity, stability, and security in the Pacific. We remain deeply concerned by China's November 23 declaration of an "East China Sea Air Identification Zone."
The U.S. government generally expects that U.S. carriers operating internationally will operate consistent with NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) issued by foreign countries.  Our expectation of operations by U.S. carriers consistent with NOTAMs does not indicate U.S. government acceptance of China's requirements for operating in the newly declared ADIZ.
